Avishai Cohen’s latest album – available on CD & Vinyl |
At the heart of the album is a deeply personal idea. The title, originally a Chick Corea composition, reflects an encounter that had a profound influence on Avishai’s musical life. The cover photograph shows Avishai as a young child – and, looking at that photograph decades later, he says he still sees the same sense of wonder, curiosity and joy. |
Eternal Child marks a return to the jazz trio at the heart of Avishai’s musical identity, with Itay Simhovich on piano and Eviatar Slivnik on drums, joined on four tracks by legendary drummer Jeff Ballard. |
As Avishai puts it: “It’s the most ‘jazz’ album I’ve made to date.” |
Across ten tracks, groove and melody remain the guiding forces, while the album reflects the many musical paths Avishai has travelled since his early days in New York. |
“Eternal Child already feels like one of the year’s defining jazz records. Radiating the kind of confidence that only raw talent seems to afford.” – Culture Beat |

A beautiful album to re-discover |
Released in 2019, Arvoles perhaps never received quite the attention this remarkable album deserved. |
The title means “Trees” in ancient Ladino, and the album finds Avishai “going back to basics” – with the maturity and vision of the decades that came before it. |
Recorded with Elchin Shirinov on piano and Noam David on drums, the album also features Anders Hagberg on flute and Björn Samuelsson on trombone, adding beautiful new colours to Avishai’s sound. |
Much of the music looks back – to childhood, New York in the ’90s and nostalgia. And there is a particularly personal touch: the album cover is a painting by Avishai’s mother, Ora, an artist in her own right. |
Arvoles is full of spirit, joy and the pure pleasure of playing and listening together. |
Maybe it’s time to give Arvoles another listen. |

A new chapter for Itay Simhovich |
We’re also excited to share a new project from Itay Simhovich, the pianist you may know from Avishai Cohen’s ensemble – and from Eternal Child. |
Together with Ilai Salomon and Yali Stern, Itay forms Zafio, a piano trio whose musical chemistry goes back to their teenage years at Thelma Yellin National High School of the Arts. |
Their upcoming album, The Raft, was produced by Shai Maestro, recorded at Nilento Studios in Sweden, and features Gilad Hekselman and Ben Wendel. |
“The Raft is all about friendship,” says the band. “It’s about dreaming big, going through heartbreak, and rising above frustration with the help of creators and friends. It’s about finding refuge, letting go of doubt, and finding trust through the act of making music together.” |
The first single, “Gratitude,” featuring Gilad Hekselman, is already out – offering a first taste of Zafio’s distinctive blend of contemporary jazz, electronic textures and experimentation. |
“Gratitude is a statement on instrumental jazz, with embracing experimentation, to refresh the listener’s musical palate.” – Themusicianinsight.com – published by lunaparkpress |
The second single, titled “Rafti” will be released on 28th August. Watch out for it. |
